Preservation in Perpetuity

Sarasota is known globally as a destination for modern architecture. The rise of cultural tourism has brought countless visitors from around the world who make the pilgrimage to Sarasota to visit our iconic structures. We are fortunate that our visionary forbearers had the prescience and vision to create and preserve these extraordinary structures.

Our stewardship, together as a community, is essential to ensure the continuation of this preservation—to foster preservation in perpetuity.

While we, and visitors to our community, enjoy our unique built environment, we have lost significant iconic structures by named architects and as well as important vernacular architecture by lesser known or unknown practitioners.

The historical fabric of our community woven with good design principles remains at risk.

Architecture Sarasota Preservation Committee is currently working to formulate a strategic plan to ensure preservation in perpetuity.
